Getting Your First Pickup Truck? Avoid These Errors! (Part 1)
There are a lot of things you can do with a pickup truck. For those who have businesses, this type of vehicle is just great to bring goods from one city to another. It is a great choice compared to a regular SUV to go and enjoy off-road trips.
Pickup trucks are good for an adventurous family too who loves to go to the beaches or even to the desert. It is also great for a star gazing date. Practical and romantic all in one vehicle. Because it is your first pickup truck, you want to take care of it. You think of a lot of ideas for your truck but give it a second thought. It might shorten its lifespan.
Here are the errors you must never do:
TO LIFT OR NOT TO LIFT?
People think it is so cool but the truth is, it is just going to show the axels and frame and get hung up on snow and sandbars. It will increase the midpoint of gravity and it will not be able to perform well compared to a stock suspension. The lift will add more weight and that too will affect its performance.
INCORRECT RIMS AND TIRES
Larger rims means low profile tires. This has a lot of effect in handling the vehicle and it will not be useful in off-roads. It is likewise not good during wet weather and standard roads. In addition, it will shift the midpoint of gravity and lessens the handling competency.
BED CAP
You might think it is awesome but you might be confining its capacity. Once you have the bed cap, you cannot put things in your pick-up truck like bikes, boxes, furniture and a lot more. So, think of your priority first.
STRAIGHT PIPES
Taking off the pipe and the muffler will decrease the horsepower, and it also affects the gas mileage of your pickup. It is also against the emission law.
ROLLING COAL
This applies to diesel trucks only. Do not tamper with the fuel-air ratio mixture. This causes unfavourable consequences on the motor just because you want to produce that black smoke when you stepped on the gas pedal. It also lessens the fuel savings.
TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR TIRES
Take a look at your tires from time to time. Find out if your tires are wearing out irregularly. You might even be surprised that something is stuck in it. If your tires are wearing out in a strange way, maybe you need to check on the suspension.
For now, let’s stop here and I will post more tips on the second part of Getting Your First Pickup Truck? Avoid These Errors!
